FinnHEMS is a non-profit company established in 2010 whose operations are financed through government funding from the national budget. In 2024, FinnHEMS received 44.7 million euros in state aid.
Our most important task is to provide high-quality emergency medical services in sudden and life-threatening situations. With its medical helicopters, FinnHEMS reaches up to 80% of Finns within 30 minutes of an emergency call.
We are dedicated to continuously improving emergency care together with our partners. We provide safe, high-quality, and equitable emergency care in cooperation with wellbeing services counties and the HUS Group.
Seven medical helicopter bases
FinnHEMS manages seven bases around Finland. Helicopters, vehicles and on-call crew are on standby around the clock. FinnHEMS provides flight crews, helicopters, emergency vehicles, and bases. Emergency care is provided by wellbeing services counties and the HUS Group.
Helicopter emergency medical services are part of the citizens’ safety net. FinnHEMS is a state-owned company that manages the nationwide system of medical helicopters in Finland in cooperation with wellbeing services counties.
