
FinnHEMS has seven bases in Finland, located in Vantaa, Turku, Tampere, Seinäjoki, Kuopio, Oulu, and Rovaniemi. At each base, the on-call crew has access to a helicopter and a rapid response emergency vehicle with medical equipment.
Crew
In Vantaa, Turku, Tampere, Seinäjoki, Kuopio, and Oulu, the crew always includes an on-call emergency physician, a pilot, and a HEMS paramedic or HEMS rescuer. At the Rovaniemi base, the crew consists of two pilots and two paramedics. In addition, FinnHEMS medical and flight operations experts are constantly working to maintain and develop a high-quality and safe medical helicopter service.
Vantaa FH10
FinnHEMS’s Vantaa base is located at Helsinki Airport. The medical helicopter at the Vantaa base serves the entire Uusimaa region from Hanko to Hyvinkää. This base handles the highest number of emergency calls in Finland.

FinnHEMS’s Turku base is located in the Turku Airport area. The Turku base is the first permanent base designed and built by FinnHEMS to meet the needs of 24-hour emergency services. The base was completed in 2015. The medical helicopter at the Turku base serves the whole of Southwest Finland, and can also reach some areas of Satakunta and Uusimaa within 30 minutes of an emergency call.

From the Rovaniemi base, the medical helicopter has extensive coverage of the areas surrounding Rovaniemi, including Tervola, Pello, Kemijärvi, and Sodankylä. The healthcare districts in the border regions of Finland, Sweden, and Norway have agreed to collaborate in the Arctic region to ensure better access to emergency services for residents in border areas.

From the Kelloniemi base, the medical helicopter can reach the areas of North and South Savo as far as Varkaus, Suonenjoki, Outokumpu, and Iisalmi within 30 minutes of an emergency call.
